By reading the current from the spark plug wire, the hour meter detects engine operation and only counts the engine's operating hours. The current flow is read by induction, so there is no need to strip or disconnect any wires. Simply wrap the supplied wire 4 or 5 times around the spark plug wire to make the hour meter operational. The device is completely waterproof (IP68) and is designed to work even in the most extreme applications such as off-road.
